Why do lip balm tubes get holes in the center after a while?

There's a stick in the middle, and then a hole builds up when you push it up and down.Why do lip balm tubes get holes in the center after a while?
When you turn the dial to make the product go up or down, it is controlled by a screw-like piece of plastic in the middle of the tube. This piece of plastic goes up through the chapstick and as you use up the product, the hole shows through. If you get to the end of the tube, you can remove the chapstick and see the screw for yourself.Why do lip balm tubes get holes in the center after a while?
ugh, i hate that. I always clean my lip balms with a q-tip!! it's the same thing with deodorants though. just try to keep it clean all the time so it won't look disgusting everytime you use it.

it has the spiral thing to push the lip balm up, that's why it needs to have something in the middle to hold the balm so when you turn the bottom it wouldn't fall apart.
It's the plastic mechanism in the middle that enables the balm to go up and down as you twist it clockwise and counter-clockwise that causes the hole in the center.
I'm pretty sure it's because there is a plastic stick in the middle that it swirls up and down on when you want to use it/close the cap... it's the grip that allows the chap stick to do that. I'm think.
omg that is such a funny question that i nevr gave a lot thot to well anyways i think its bc its like a big chunk of crap put on a stik that swirls and ya i realy dont know srry :}
