Can soap essential oils be used in homemade lip balm?

I want to buy some scents for my lip balm and there are some essential oils on ebay that say they are ';skin-safe.'; They are intended to be used in soap and body butters. I am just wondering if they would be safe to use in my lip balm recipe. They are cheaper than the flavour oils because you can buy a set.Can soap essential oils be used in homemade lip balm?
Yes, you CAN use essential oils in lip balm production....oils such as lavender, mint, orange...they are all good for this purpose. However, if you are not familiar with the properties of essential oils, you may want to avoid using them just because some oils can cause reactions in people with allergies or certain health conditions. Also, when you use essential oils you only use a few small amount and they require special storage as they are light and heat sensitive.

Flavor oils would be your best bet. You get what you pay for, too. I've noticed that oil sellers on Ebay tend to sell very cheap oils for a lot more than they are worth and mark up shipping. Try www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com. Here is a link to their flavor oil page: http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Sto鈥?/a> I believe flavor oils are shipped in the continental US for free. I've been using them for years with no complaints. Can soap essential oils be used in homemade lip balm?
they may be skin safe, but that doesn't mean they're safe for ingestion. No matter how careful you are, if you have on lip balm/stick on, SOME is going to get in your mouth. Homemade lip balms are usually very soft, which will make it easier for more to get in your mouth. Even if it doesn't poison you, you'll taste it, and it will be very nasty. Soap essential oils will taste like soap x 100. I say don't do it
